2012 brings a new series of Hot Gossip on Radio 2. Claudia Winkleman is joined by the likes of Jason Manford, Mark Watson, Jenny Éclair and Russell Kane every week throughout January.

Whether it’s The Goon Show, Morecombe and Wise, Only Fools and Horses or The Office, the Christmas edition of a hit comedy show has always been a hugely anticipated occasion.

As well as clips from the nation’s favourites, the series  features new interviews with a host of stars, writers and executives involved in the commissioning and production of these comedy classics – including contributions from the likes of Bill Pertwee and Ronnie Corbett.

Kylie Minogue pays a personal tribute to one of the most unique jazz artists of the last 50 years; Blossom Dearie. A ‘musician’s musician’, Dearie was an iconic figure on the cabaret circuit in New York, Paris and London. Citing her as a major influence – indeed the two singers met shortly before Blossom died in 2009 – Minogue explores, first hand on both sides of the Atlantic, this fascinating musical career.

Illustrated by an incredible soundtrack, Killer Queen explores how Queen created some of the biggest hits ever written; the inspirations behind the songs, the creative dynamics between four strong-willed musicians and the human stories at the heart of their music.

The two part feature is built around exclusive interviews with both Brian May and Roger Taylor as well as rare archive interviews from Freddie Mercury. It also features exclusive insight into the bands’ recording process from producer and close friend Reinhold Mack.

Killer Queen also features contributions from artists influenced by Queen, notably; Tom Chaplin of Keane, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, comedian and musician Tim Minchin and comedian, actor and Queen impresario Rhys Thomas.

A reflective anthology which considers the impact of 9/11, ten years after events in Manhattan stopped the world in its tracks. Sound tracked by music from across the genres, Faith and 9/11 combines personal reflections – past and present – with news archive.

Journalist and Pause for Thought contributor, Abdul-Rehman Malik guides listeners through the montage, which includes an interview given to the BBC by the Archbishop Of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, shortly after the terrorist attacks. Contributors include the architect, Michael Arad, who witnessed the attack from the roof of his apartment and won the competition to design the World Trade Centre Memorial; former Poet Laureate Sir Andrew Motion, who has written a new poem reflecting on the events of 9/11; Major Molly Shotzberger, who was the Salvation Army Grief Counsellor stationed at Ground Zero; and Elizabeth Turner, author of The Blue Skies Of Autumn, who was seven months pregnant when her husband died on a business trip to the World Trade Centre.

We also hear from the singer/songwriter Yusuf Islam; country singer Mary Chapin Carpenter; New York-born singer-songwriter Gerard Kenny; poet Michael Symmons Roberts; The Rt Revd & Rt Hon Richard Chartres, Bishop of London; Imam Ahmed Saad of Finsbury Park Mosque; and Baroness Neuberger, Senior Rabbi of the West London Synagogue.

TBI filmed ‘Noah and the Whale’ playing a special live session for Geoff Lloyd’s Hometime Show on Absolute Radio. The band performed the tracks ‘L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N’, ‘Tonight’s The Kind Of Night’ and ‘Waiting For My Chance To Come’ exclusively for Absolute listeners.

TBI enjoyed more awards success at the New York Radio Awards 2011, in which judges assessed the highest quality radio programmes from over 30 countries across the world. The John Bonham Story, presented by Dave Grohl, won Best Music Special to complement the Gold it received at the Sony’s. To Kill a Mockingbird at 50, presented by Dougray Scott, was awarded Silver in two categories, while Hot Gossip and Chart the Week both gained nominations for Best Talk Programme.
