TBI at Christmas
TBI produced some special programmes over the Christmas period. Firstly ‘Kylie on Blossom’ as Kylie Minogue explored the career of the late jazz singer Blossom Dearie. Richard Bacon was back for another Chart The Year on 5live with his guests paying scant regard to traditions of peace and goodwill. Also on 5live, Jamie Stangroom’s ‘ Sound of 2011’ featured some of the biggest names in music this year answering the questions no-one else asked them, while Not Just Cricket starred the three not-so-wise men; Greg James, Graham Swann and James Anderson . Rock fans had another chance to hear Killer Queen on Absolute Radio, while over on Radio 2, Sir David Jason celebrated great festive comedy over the decades, with help from the likes of Bill Pertwee and Ronnie Corbett. A week later The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show NYE Party over on 6Music featured live sessions from Smoov and Turrell to help Craig and friends get you in the mood to dance 2011 right out of existence.
2012 brings a new series of Hot Gossip on Radio 2. Claudia Winkleman is joined by the likes of Jason Manford, Mark Watson, Jenny Éclair and Russell Kane every week throughout January.
Coming up….’Kylie on Blossom’ for BBC Radio 2

Kylie Minogue pays a personal tribute to one of the most unique jazz artists of the last 50 years; Blossom Dearie. A ‘musician’s musician’, Dearie was an iconic figure on the cabaret circuit in New York, Paris and London. Citing her as a major influence – indeed the two singers met shortly before Blossom died in 2009 – Minogue explores, first hand on both sides of the Atlantic, this fascinating musical career.
‘Kylie on Blossom’: Thursday 22nd December at 10.00pm, BBC Radio 2.
Claudia’s back in the Hotseat
Hot Gossip returns to BBC Radio 2 next year with Claudia Winkleman back in the presenter’s chair. Broadcasting on Saturday nights throughout January 2012, Claudia will be joined by 3 top comedians to get stuck into the week’s juiciest showbiz stories.
